~Mother Teresa

Books for the Barrios - A Project of the Heart!

Books for the Barrios provides American youths the opportunity to help their fellow classmates in the third world break the cycle of illiteracy and poverty. Over 100,000 children have showed compassion and love for their counterparts overseas. Over twelve million books and educational items have been gathered, transported, and distributed to deprived and war torn towns.

SHOES THAT FIT
Beginning October 13th, St. Perpetua Parish and School are launching a program called Shoes That Fit; a simple, effective, and uniquely personal way to assist local children.
We are pairing with Los Medanos Elementary School in Pittsburg, 'adopting' the school's neediest students, many of whom attend school with shoes and clothes that are too small. The mission of Shoes That Fit is to provide new shoes to children so they can attend school in comfort and with dignity, better prepared to learn and play.
The Outreach Committee will coordinate weekly shoe delivery to Los Medanos.

"Everybody can be great because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love."
 ~Martin Luther King Jr.
