2017 Bulletin # 2

Bulletin Boards are going up........Staff meetings are happening.......Books are delivered to classrooms.......Classschedules are done .......Solar eclipse glasses have arrived.......We are ready for the first day of school!!!
We are excited to welcome you on Monday for our new school year!Of course, I didn't check the astrological calendar, so we have made some adjustments to our day to accommodate the solar eclipse.

We have moved the time of our prayer service to9 am. At9 amthere is nothing happing in the sky, so the students will be safe walking to the church. We will have our first day of school prayer service, and at the conclusion of the prayer service teachers will pass out solar eclipse glasses that the students will wear back to their classrooms. From there, each teacher will decide how to incorporate the eclipse into the morning and will either take their classes outside with their glasses or show the live stream in the classroom. All students will wear their glasses at dismissal to get to their cars.
We have made some other changes for the upcoming year as well. All Kindergarteners will be attending school from8:00 am-1:30pm, with our Panther Cub program available from1:30 - 3:00 pm. Mrs. Mateau will support Mrs. O'Brien (formerly Ms. Taylor) in Kindergarten. Mrs. Lee is supporting Ms. Ganey in first grade and Mrs. O'Sullivan will be working with Mrs. Williams in second grade. Mrs. Heiskell will be assisting Mrs. Banchero in third grade.
Safety is always a main focus of our school. As in previous years, we have several students withlife threatening nut and dairy allergies. Please be aware and conscious of these allergies when packing your child's lunch and sending in treats to school.Additionally, please refrain from using your cell phone during drop off and pick upas we strive to move our students and cars quickly and efficiently through this part of the day.

It's a big day for all of us. Students full of questions and doubts and excitement. Teachers full of ideas and plans and dreams.Parents full of all the emotions.Protect our babies, Lord.Whether it's the first day of kindergarten or middle school, or college, those students are our children. And we want today to be full of good things. Let them make friends and reach out to those who are lonely.Give them attentive minds and caring hearts. Use our babies, God, to be a blessing to others.

Bless the teachers, God.These men and women who have committed to invest in the next generation. Give them discernment and wisdom to see each student's unique abilities and gifts. Multiply their preparation and may their plans be fruitful. Fill the day with moments of wonder. Remind them of their special place in the lives of their students and give them confidence in their abilities as teachers.

And for all the parents, Lord, a prayer for peace.Give us plenty to do so we don't have time to fret. Let us be extraordinarily grateful for the privilege of parenting. Fill us with wisdom as we watch out babies grow. Grant us patience and kindness as they stretch their wings. Hold us close to You as we learn to let them go.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
