2018-2019 Bulletin # 14

I am a student of Catholic Faith, a life-long learner, and a well rounded person who is respectful of our world and all of its cultures.
-St.Perpetua's School Wide Learning Expectations (SLE's)

Bulletin # 14
Thank you so much for all your patience and cooperation last Friday during our Disaster Drill. Our 8th grade students did an excellent job as runners, which expedited the process for checking students out to the adults! Following the drill, the entire staff met to discuss any necessary revisions and review our procedures for various scenarios such as a stranger on campus, earthquake, and fire.
Check your mailbox in the next few days for information on our Annual Fund, which supports Tuition Assistance. Approximately 10% of our families qualify and receive tuition assistance in order to attend St. Perpetua. Your pledge of prayer and/or financial contribution to the fund signifies your support of our school and all our programs. Thank you for your generosity!
Thumbs Up for the movie "Like" that has been shown this week for parents and students! It is vital that parents monitor student screen time and reinforce safety practices at home. Students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade will be seeing this movie on Friday to reinforce the protocols outlined in our technology acceptable use agreement.
Autumn Prayer
God of all seasons, we thank you for Autumn.
We thank you
for the touch of coolness in the air that gives us a new burst of energy,
for the coloring of trees that shows the creativity of the Divine Artist,
for the falling leaves that reveal the strength of the branches,
for the hues of fields that bring peace to our souls,
for the smiles on pumpkins that bring joy to children,
for the fall harvest which that brings us gratitude for the bounty of our land,
for this change of seasons that reveals the circle of life.
God of all seasons, as you transform the earth, transform us by your Spirit.

Medications at School
If your child takes medications (prescription or non-prescription) that need to be kept on campus, you will need to bring the medications (in the original container) as well as the ' Request for medication to be taken during school hours' form on the school website. Please be aware that if the medicine is a prescription, a doctor's signature is also required on the form.  If you want your student to carry their Epi-Pen, you will need to also complete the 'Permission To Carry' form, which also needs a physician's signature.
Mission Effectiveness

All classes are collecting the following food items for Thanksgiving "Baskets":

Second Grade - 12 oz. can of evaporated milk (2 cans)
Third Grade - Instant mashed potatoes (1 box)
Fourth Grade - Stove top stuffing mix (for turkey) (2 packages)
Fifth Grade - Pumpkin Pie Mix (make sure it's the pie mix)
Sixth Grade - Ready crust graham (not frozen)
Seventh Grade - 14 oz. can whole green beans
Eighth Grade - Large rectangular roasting pan (big enough for a turkey ~ 1 or 2 pans)
Faculty - Instant gravy
Thank you in advance for your generosity! Students can bring their donations directly to their classrooms.
ALL ITEMS ARE DUE by Monday, November 9th

The Gratitude Tree

To kick off the Thanksgiving season, the Mission Effectiveness Committee, along with the 8th grade class, have started the Gratitude Tree.  Students will be filling out leaves with something they are grateful for and adding it to the tree.
Please stop by the back hallway to see our Gratitude Tree burst with thanks!

St Perpetua Annual Tuition Assistance Fund
For more than 50 years, St. Perpetua Catholic School has been nurturing students in a safe environment that is rich in Catholic values and academic excellence. Every year, donations from alumni, parents of alumni, grandparents, parents, staff and friends of St Perpetua Catholic School provide us with the ability to share with those in our community who need tuition assistance.

Next week we will open a link for online donations to our Annual Tuition Assistance Fund.
Thank you for your continued support!
