Bulletin # 18

We are looking forward to seeing all of you this Friday morning for Christmas Sharing!  Coffee and snacks will be served upstairs outside the library for parents to enjoy between performances.
I want to remind you of our schedule for
Friday, December 15th.   We have a
dismissal and students may come to school in "Fancy Free Dress".  Many classes  plan to host holiday parties in the morning before recess at 10:20
  • After recess, at 10:40, each class has a scheduled a time to perform for parents in our library.  Students will use the stage area and parents will be able to sit and gather to see their child perform.
  • The rest of the school will also be able to see each performance thanks to the technology wisdom of Mr. Hauger who will help us simulcast the production to each classroom.
  • Parents can watch their student(s) performance from the library and enjoy the other classes from any classroom or the RRC.
Here is the time schedule when each class will perform their song in the Library:
10:45 - TK
10:51 - Kindergarten
10:57 - 1st grade
11:03 -  2nd grade
11:09 -  3rd grade
11:15 -  4th grade
11:21 -  5th grade
11:27 -  3rd grade (recorders)
11:33 -  6th grade
11:39 -  7th grade
11:45 -  8th grade
A LONG standing tradition at this event is the entire community singing "The Twelve Days of Christmas" and this will still happen!!!  After all the classes have completed their performances, and just before dismissal, we will gather in front of the school (where the students line up in the morning) and we will conclude our holiday celebration with our traditional song.  Parents and family members will be the Eleven Pipers Piping, so warm up your singing voices!
Thank you to all who have supported our holiday outreach projects during November and December.  We are still accepting gifts for our giving tree but those items need to be under the tree first thing in the morning as they will be delivered mid Thursday morning.

Our Application for the 2018-2019 School Year is now open online.  Click here for the application.
Christmas blessings to you and your families this holiday season!  My prayer is that your break is filled with love, laughter, rest, and wonderful memories!  We look forward to welcoming in the new year with all of the students on January 2!
Into the bleakest winters of our souls, Lord, you are tiptoeing
on tiny Infant feet to find us, hold our hands.
May we drop whatever it is we are so busy about these days
to accept this gesture so small that it may get overlooked
in our frantic search for something massive and overwhelming.
Remind us that it is not you who demands large, lavish celebrations
and enormous strobe-lit displays of faith.  Rather, you ask only that we
have the faith of a mustard seed and willingness to let a small hand take ours.
We are ready.

Margaret Anne Huffman

Super Bowl Reading Challenge -- 4th Grade takes the lead!

The Fourth Grade Pugtatos have taken the lead of our school-wide Super Bowl Reading Challenge.  First Grade Panthers are a close second place with Sixth Grade Tortoises and Seventh Grade Porpoises tied for third place.  Make sure to help your class take the lead by turning in your Reading Log.  Students should turn in their Reading Log immediately, as soon as they finish reading for six hours.  Let's all meet our goals and score a winning touchdown!  More details and extra Reading Logs on our school website.

School Auction / Parent Party
It's beginning to look a lot like  . . . . Auction!!
Save the Date of March 10 for the Parent Party.  It'll be just that! No Live Auction, just a fun St. Patricks Day themed party.
There will be an On-Line Auction beginning March 8th and we need your help! It takes all of us asking our favorite gymnastics studios, hair salons, restaurants, and shops we frequent if they are willing to donate.  Your company, friends and family who have season tickets to the Sharks, Warriors, or the Giants are a great ask too! All of these items are needed to have a successful on-line auction and make money for our school to bridge the gap between the tuition we pay and the actual cost to educate each of our children (~$3k).
Click here for donor form and letter. There are also copies available in the office for you to pick up.   If you have any questions, please contact Cary Tschann [email protected] or Lucy Mason [email protected]
Panther House

Dear Parents,
I'm looking forward to joining all the families and our St. P's children dressed in their holiday best on Friday morning.  It's my favorite day of the school year!  Please remember that Panther House closes at 9:30 am on Friday, 12/15.
On this Thursday, if at all possible, we would really appreciate you picking up your children by 5:45 p.m. to allow Panther House staff to attend the Christmas party and share some holiday cheer with our co-workers. Thanks for your thoughtfulness!

Signup genius is now open for Panther House snack donation during additional months. Remember that you gain service hours for your contribution.  Thanks in advance for your help.  You need to plan on enough food for 65 thankful children. Here is the sign-up link.
Please send in January calendars
Dec 15 (FRI): Panther House is closed after 9:30 a.m.
Jan 4 (FRI): Noon dismissal; Panther House is open.
Wishing you and your family much comfort and joy at Christmas, and safe travels wherever you may go!

Counselor's Corner
During the excitement and busy-ness of the holiday season, it is so easy to get swept up in planning, details and chaos. Parents tend to focus on taking care of everyone else during the Holiday Season. There is more and more pressure to create "perfect" holiday celebrations (social media has undoubtedly been part of the reason for that increase in pressure), but that pressure takes a toll and often makes the holiday much less than perfect.
It may feel impossible to stop and take time to truly enjoy the moments, but those are the moments that will be most authentic and meaningful. Take these 5 steps to help ease the holiday stress, be more present (not gift-wrapped) and maybe make Christmas even more enjoyable:
  • Pace Yourself
  • Focus on Gratitude
  • Practice the Art of Letting Go
  • Fully Engage with Your Loved Ones
  • Prioritize Silence and Meditative Tasks
More details about those 5 steps are found here...
Happy Meaningful Holidays to you all,
Mrs. Kelli Bacher

2017 Family Participation Program / Parent Volunteer Hours
St. Perpetua School relies on parents to share their time, talents and treasures. Volunteer participation is necessary as tuition revenue does not cover operating costs of the school. Parent participation also ensures the success of social events and sustains school programs. Click here for more details and some revisions to the 2017 program.

Families (TK, K, and single parent-only families have a 15 hour requirement) are required to complete 35 volunteer hours. You should report your hours throughout the year to the volunteer chair, Ellen Drey [email protected]
Yard Duty
Click here for the Sign-Up Genius link for yard duty sign-ups.
All families have now signed up for their two required shifts.  Parents can now sign up for additional shifts which will count towards additional volunteer hours.

If you are unable to cover your shift due to a schedule conflict, it is your responsibility to find a substitute parent to take your shift.  When you do make a change, please let the office know who is your replacement.  Any no-show parent will be charged $50 on the next tuition statement.

Please remember that all volunteers need to be 'All Clear' to do yard duty or any other volunteer functions.
